CISCO CHAIN, NATIONAL FOREST LAKES, SYLVANIA, BOND FALLS, LAKE GOGEBIC (west of cabin with south lake boat landing) more. The famous “Cisco Chain” with its 15 lakes and over 271 miles of shoreline are home to many fish species including panfish, crappie, walleye, bass, northern pike and muskie. Lakes include Cisco, Thousand Island, West Bay, Poor, Record, African, Clearwater, Lindsay, East Bay, Indian, Big and more. In fact, our area waters boast both state and world records for tiger musky!
Many National Forest Lakes close around cabin such as Pomeroy, Beatons, Sucker, Moosehead, Langford, Perch, Dream, Brown, Comeilia, Cyprus, Holly, Moraine, Osprey, Ridge, Dinner, Imp, Coyote, Pan, Castle, Stone, Bobcat, Henry, Mink, Thrush, Foxpaw, Hawk, Redboat, Head, Elbow, Mishtke, Marion, Summit, Holly and more (mapbooks to use in the cabin during your stay). Experience the area of fishing with many lakes east, west, south, north of the cabin. Lake Gogebic (largest lake in Michigan) is just west of the cabin. Bond Falls fishing and Bond Falls waterfall in the area is another location to try. Sylvania Wilderness has many lakes including Lark, Whitefish, Crooked, Bear, Helen, Loon, Moss, Fisher, Marsh, Dear Island, Big Bateau, Lois, and more.
Bait shops, gear: Sylvania Outfitters (just east of the cabin) on Hwy. 2 has bait, mapbooks, lures and other gear. Gas Stations including the BP Stateline. There is a bait shop in downtown Watersmeet with various hours. There is bait on Lake Gogebic at Bears Nine. Bent's Bait Shop could be adventured to on your boat.

While visiting, explore the 21,000 acres of virgin forest in the Sylvania Wilderness Area which is within 1 million-plus acres of the Ottawa National Forest. State and Federal lands provide excellent small game, waterfowl, and trophy deer hunting, making our area a top choice for bow and gun hunters. Ottawa National Forest just behind the cabin also and in area. Many forest roads that include Ottawa National Forest, trails, lakes, rivers and more.
Rivers north, south, east and west of the cabin for fun, adventures and fishing. The Ontonagon River, West Branch or called the Cisco Branch is just west (just down the road) of the cabin and this branch includes the Kakabika Falls. Located on the CR trail or Road 527. It is an S series as the river drops in elevation. Walking trail and place to park. The Middle Branch of the Ontonagon is just east of the cabin. Many canoeing trips on the Ontonagon River. Lake Gogebic to Norwich Bluff is one of the canoeing trips on the West Branch or Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River. Other trips for canoeing or kayaking are: Norwich Bluff to Victoria Damn; Choate Road to Ewen; Ewen to Victoria Dam, Watersmeet to Burned Damn; Burned Damn to Interior Bridge; Interior Bridge to Bond Dam; Agate Falls to Military Hills; Gardner Road to East of East Branch Road; and others. The Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River includes the Old Gravel pit to Matchwood Tower Road. Put in at an old gravel pit off gravel Forest Road 527 that runs roughly parallel to the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River (rated Class II-III). Another trip starts appproximately five miles north of Highway US-2 from Marenisco (west of the cabin). It is the Copps Mine Road to Highway M-28 which is Class I. Sylvania Wilderness area has some great canoeing and kayaking areas. Cisco Chain of Lakes and Lake Gogebic are other areas for canoeing and kayaking.
